when he uses the belt, he is using the pressure and release method. its not causing PAIN. The horse feels pressure, wants release, so it lifts its head.

I find it amusing that so many people have chosen to comment thinking that they are extremely knowledgeable.. ...yet they have never seen this method used!!! I have never needed to use this method for any of my horses (none were serial buckers) but have seen it used with great success. I have seen many horses ruined by "parelli" ,dressage and race-horse trainers alike and just about everyone from every walk of life and different methods work for different horses. Educate yourself first!

My only real problem with this method is John's smack to the horse's rump without any sort of intermediary clucking or cues. Not entirely fair to the horse to not give him a chance to respond on his own. But, again, this is my only real problem, and he's not overly forceful in his other videos.

people are idiots im sorry.... a bucking horse can easily kill someone, this is a rope on the leg to limp it, it works and gets the job done, period!

A horse does what he does for a reason... If he was taught to buck, he will buck. If he has ill fitting tack, he will buck. i use Parelli methods on mine and my mums 4 year old Gypsy cob, and having a half a ton horse bucking cant be fun! The welsh i ride has made a habbit of bucking...ive used Parelli methods on him after 2 years i decide to ride him with no bridle or saddle, only halter....only to find out that he finds it more comfy, then saddles, he still naps as but he no longer bucks!

@shakeitshakeitbaby yes i agree and he isnt doing anything horrible ..im sure the owner was having a extremely difficult time with the animal or they wouldnt be with a trainer in the first place...at least the horse wasnt sent to the torture yard!

A bucking horse is very dangerous. This horse very obviously needed this approach to stop the behavior. Yes its a bit harsh but if it saved the horse from being put down and made her usable then ... there's worse things like that rogue breaking someone's neck or worse.

This is a pretty interesting method. I wish people would stop commenting about how it's "cruel" or that they should "find the source of the bucking problem" though. I'm pretty sure the owners of this horse had been through hell trying to sort this beautiful pony out & I guess this was their last option. I hope it worked out okay. :)

It's good and it's sad at the same time that this genius is giving away his knowledge to everyone so easily, I know that most of the morrons commenting here never had a chance to work in lest say dealers yard, now that would be a career wouldnt it ?
personally i dont agree with this. just my opinion. its an interesting method that i havent seen before. i am honestly shocked that he whipped the horse like he did, just to get it to move. without even clucking to it or kissing he just went right out and whipped it....

I wonder if medical reasons were ruled out, or saddle fit reasons?
I, personally, completely disagree with this training method. I think it is harsh, although I will not say it is abusive or extremely cruel. From what I can judge, this horse has merely been punished and prevented from bucking (assuming this training worked, we don't see videos outside this small arena, do we?). I don't believe he was taught to actually not buck.
