This is it. This is the final episode of Bleach. You know, the one where everybody dies and there's no more adventures of soul reapers, because Arturo killed them all. What? Nothing like that ever happened? You're sure?
This is a fun little "what if" scenario where we get to ham it up with our favorite self-made arrancar and take sweet, sweet vengeance on those who have wronged him.
I'm sorry to have to do this, since we're at the end and clearly the game doesn't seem to mind too much about its own plot...but there are more than a couple of things that just don't make much sense, even if you're going to hand-wave most parts of it away.
Heck, even Arturo's little monologues about his backstory don't add up. I mean, "Sealed in a place where neither light nor darkness exist [...] And so, locked deep in that dark place"? And the only reason why he was sealed away in the first place (seeing as how he was apparently too strong to beat in combat, or so he claims) was because he went to the chambers of the Central 46 ...and... something?
I mean, the Central 46 are just some kind of legislative/judicial body (the combination of these things makes me question the stability of the government of the afterlife even if it's working like it ought to...and isn't completely slaughtered, thus giving all that power by default to the commander-in-chief of their armed forces) ... so why is it exactly that he was defeated by a trap to get him near some old statesmen?
Then there's his return...even if the seal was weakened because the Central 46 were annihilated, how would he gain enough power to break it from the shards of a sword that was broken on a hill far away from this underground area? Even if the shards were scattered throughout the Seireitei, there's no reason why they should have reached him. And yet he's able to manipulate people into collecting them for him, which he needs to break free...but wouldn't he need to be free to manipulate them in the first place?
To top all that, apparently in this version of events, he doesn't even need to bother collecting the Sokyoku shards in the first place?!
¡Ay, ay, ay, mi cabeza!
It's worth noting that nowhere in this entire game is the word "arrancar" ever used. The closest you'll ever come to understanding what one is comes when Arturo gives his little explanation that he is a hollow who gained soul reaper powers by removing his mask.
I find this to be pretty amusing, because the English broadcast of Bleach had just barely reached Renji's duel with Byakuya and the first arrancar wouldn't appear for over sixty episodes.
Oh, and all this mention of "Aizen's Rebellion" in the episodes? Oops, I guess they let the cat out of the bag there, because those episodes wouldn't be dubbed and broadcast for another five months...even though it was to be revealed only eight episodes later, the broadcast went on hiatus after Byakuya defeated Renji and his Bankai.
I just think it's a little weird to not want to commit to talking about arrancars if you're going to spoil the big twist to the big Xanatos Roulette behind the whole story arc.
Oh, and in the time between this game and Ulquiorra's first appearance, the role was assigned to Tony Oliver, whereas this game's Ulquiorra is played by Steve Blum. David Vincent would go on to voice Grimmjow Jeagerjacques in the show after lending his voice to him in this game, however. It's slightly funny that they don't bother giving them last names in this game.
Also, I just have to ask...why does Arturo wear the same uniform as Aizen's arrancars? The world may never know.
I have this game I cant wait to get him :D I thought of this. they might have made him game only. his zanpakuto ability. it absorbs the reiatsu of who he kills and adds it to his own making him stronger

@dragonkillers100 That's essentially the basis for his existence and the source of his power in the DS game The 3rd Phantom. I guess it's a good thing he doesn't actually bother to use Fenice in this game.

The story of Shattered blade would of been a way better filler than the bount arc. :D

@ryushin6 I actually rather liked the Bount arc, actually...plus, it's better than the other filler plots that came later on, if you ask me, anyway.
I don't think that the skeleton of a plot that this game operates on could sustain itself that long, but maybe if they combined it with some elements from The 3rd Phantom, which also centered largely around Arturo Plateado, they might be able to make for a decent movie plot.
