Thanks a lot for a nice snare!

@crocz Broseph, thanks for this. I really needed help figuring this out. One step closer to making wicked tunez.

i don't understand how to get samples. the program seems to need the sounds to be in .xi format, but all i can find on the internet are .wav , .mp3, etc
-
the most difficult part is to put the samples on the playing line i've pressed every button double clicked everything and nothing will input to the playlist
-
If it helps anyone:
I use fruityloops with commodore 64 patch which makes chiptune really well
:)
But I'd also enjoy learning other ways to make it using other samples and programs...

i know this is an old comment... not sure if you still need to know but other people might benefit from info too.
you can make samples into instruments by saving them on the instrument side in the tracker (just do your envelope and whatever effects you want, then save it as an .xi)
you can basically make your own .xi instruments out of nearly anything... even recording your own samples.

Can you please tell me where i can download basic instrument sounds ? I've downloaded samples on "freesound" but i can only open them in the sample list, not in the instrument list (even when it's a simple snare shot)...

yup

is that milkytracker?

Try switching to US keyboard layout. The OSX version uses the same keyboard short cuts except that cmd is used instead of ctrl. If you're still having trouble, why don't you describe your problem on the milkytracker forum?
Very nice. I still wish ANY milky video would have speech or at LEAST text subtitles...
You using OSX version?

Nope, windows it is. I might add speech to my next tutorial :)

so can you load wav files into this program? if so, does it make them sound all low bit? that would be good.

You can (and should) load some real sounds to this program or if you're making chip, you can just crewate them yourself like so :) and if i undesrstood correctly, the answer to ur second question is no.

It is impossible to follow this tutorial, since we cannot tell what buttons you are pressing on your keyboard.

I didn't press any buttons.
