What is The Sims Medieval, really? How different is it from other Sims games? Is it worth buying? Find out in this video review!

EXTRA NOTE: One thing I wasn't sure if I should mention in the review was the way the game "endings" happen - if you don't want spoilers, don't read this. After your kingdom ambition is completed and your kingdom is practically fully-upgraded with lots of high-level heroes, you are forced to start over with a new kingdom to continue playing. While you can choose one of your successful heroes to take over as the new monarch in an extra (and optional) quest, I really wish you could have continued with your original kingdom. You can either play the old one in "free mode" or you must make a new one and possibly do many of the same quests over again, re-building and re-creating everything again with every new kingdom ambition. Not exactly a "flaw", but while I think I understand why they did this, it's a questionable design decision and not exactly ideal to me.
EXTRA EXTRA NOTE: Many of the complaints I had about the game have been fixed as of patch 1.3 on April 30th.
Notes:
New Feature: Free Play Ambition - Set up your perfect kingdom without worrying about long term goals. In this special ambition, you can play quests when you wish, or control up to four heroes at once in a more open free play mode.
New Feature: Child Succession - If a Hero Sim dies, but already has children, you can choose to have one of the children grow up and take over their parent's job!
Camera improvements - Have you ever wanted to get a better view of the action? The camera now allows tighter zooming and full 360 rotation in buildings.
End Game Improvements - Similar to the Free Play Ambition, can now play quests, earn XP, and build buildings even after your ambition is completed!
Hero Leveling Improvements - Can now gain XP beyond level 10 for all heroes, giving additional benefits.
Brave New World Quest Improvements -- When you complete the quest "Brave New World" and start a new ambition with that character, he or she will now retain several abilities from their previous profession!
Kingdom Aspect Improvements - Can now gain additional benefits when increasing aspects beyond their maximum capacity
And many more! This is why these things are listed are problems I had with the game in the video... at the time this video was made, shortly after launch, these were very real problems. They have now been fixed and are no longer problems.
So what would be the better kingdom-building games you were referring to?

@lvoverride Majesty 2, Europa 1400, The Guild 2, and even the Medieval: Total War, Europa Universalis and Stronghold games to a degree. There are several more, but those come to my mind immediately.

I am a huge fan of the Sims. I've got all of the Sims 2 but nothing yet of the Sims 3. Would you recommend be getting the Sims 3 or The Sims Medieval?? Also, when the monach dies do you get to create a new one???

@28CoversGirl28 If you liked the console Sims games like Castaway Stories, get Medieval since it's very similar in gameplay. If you want the traditional Sims 2 style of open sandbox gameplay, get The Sims 3 since it's basically the old Sims formula tweaked and expanded. And its expansions are crazy cheap now so it's a great time to join in.
