090301 2008 G37 factory noisy exhaust sound on startup 1400rpm

cold start...is this 2008 Infiniti G37 original equip exhaust showing a sign of excessive noise, which would qualify for a warranty replacement? I will have to get a dB meter at some point and run under load to further see if it truly bothers me. I would prefer a stealthy quiet for this luxury car...save the noise for the 370z. I have a love/hate relationship with the sound. Sometimes I wish the car had an nice torque-y electric motor, and it would be silent! Othertimes, I love the sports car exhaust sounds. And, usually, with the windows up, It is rather quiet inside the relatively plush car. After listening to some other G37 mufflers on YouTube, my muffler at 4k miles is probably not showing the breakdown rattle--yet.

jake, there is a Technical Service Bulletin for early production 2008 G37's that covers replacing the muffler due to problems with internal breakdown. I am just trying to determine if mine is heading that direction, based on the cold startup sound. Hopefully not. But then again, nothing wrong with getting a new muffler down the road!

The G37 is a luxury performance car its not gonna be silent like a Acura tl or something.

i agree! sometimes when ur driving in the car long distances u just wish u wouldnt hear so much of the outside and rather your music thts playing. but if ur just driving around on a country road or open road, I love to hear the acceleration. gives me a rush

I got my 2008 G37S the first month it came out and that's how mine started sounding after a few months. It became a bit annoying until I finally complained and they replaced it. Now it sounds normal on start up.
