The irony of it is that the leaders who were trying to eliminate the educated elite were talking about Van Gogh and Picasso to a painter who had never heard of them - and the painter was the one being imprisoned!

The teachers at my school don't even want to teach about what happened in Vietnam, their excuse is always "there wasn't any time left", but my class was able to persuade our new teacher to add it to the curriculum.

I couldn't agree with you more; so much of the history taught in US schools is so dismantled that our youth knows nothing. I strongly believe that history such as this needs to be taught, learned from and taken fully into account.

I think it's because it's not western like the Holocaust which left more people dead or maybe because America abandoned Cambodia and don't want the kids to learn about the consequence that they allowed to happen; most white people can't even find Cambodia on the map.

@sunstarfarmer, its because the khmer rouge leaders, are still alive. but right now ii think they are being prisioned. not complete sure.

This is scary. Seeing these two men relive that horror fills me with rage. The best thing I can do to respect them is to be as kind as understanding to others as I can. Thank you gentlemen.
