  • i remember eji onu from when i was a little kid. it was my fav. masquerade.

the eji onu dance can be very spectacular and show like. looking at it now i see a man in a costume, but then it was like watching a super natural creature in action.

  • me too. I was told that he danced on rooftops by magical power!

  • @Nnfefe i agree with u..i dont agree with that other person whoever he/she might be!

  • @okpalaj Do you disagree with me or with the person that I accuse of slandering Igbo women in bleaching for higher bride price?

  • @Nnfefe No that's not what i said. im saying that bleaching is becoming very prevalent because of the belief that the lighter the better. Forget about bride price (that really is irrelevant)..everyone is entitled to their opinion, and making generalizations for (ex. bride price is dependent on bleaching is erroneous)..im just saying that, from my perspective, i have lots of friends (old & married & young) doing it because they feel better about themselves with light skin in Nigeria.

  • @okpalaj What you're saying is that bride price is contingent on bleaching? This is abhorrent in Igboland

  • @Nnfefe Hello I'm an igbo, and I have to disagree with your comments to an extent. Igbos don't bleach their bodies for just higher bride prices. I know several igbos (already married) that bleach because we have this stigma that light-skinned is better (not just us, lots of colored ppl). I'm a mixed Igbo (half-british) living in Nigeria, and I can tell you that this is a stigma (and I blame the MEN lol) Lots of Nigerian men like fair girls (i hate to say that) but this stigma needs to stop.

  • He Heyyy! Egwu ndi igbo!! I remember watching these masquerades dance as a child in Enugu! Good Times!
