I have been a Cleveland fan all my life, and as such it makes me real proud that the Indians were the first American League team to break the color barrier.

@lumpagogo As a kid, I saw Doby hit a homer over the centerfield wall in Washington DC, where I lived. The park - Griffith Stadium - was big, and to hit one over center field was over 500'. He hit another one as far there too, later.
I went to the games in DC when I was 11-12 and to 14. As great as the Indians were, with Luke Easter, Al Rosen, Doby, Avila, Mitchell, Simpson and the "Big 4 pitchers" (Lemon, Wynn, Garcia and Feller), they did not get the recognition, b/c of the Yankees.

Today is Jackie Robinson Day---------------the Cleveland Indians are forever condemned for doing nothing for Larry Doby. They are cursed and will never win another WS (haven't won it since 1948).

Larry Doby was the first black player to win a World Series ring; MLB should change the date of his HOF induction.

Excellent Documentary!
Man, what a great athlete. Can you imagine what baseball nearly missed, and missed in the years before Robinson and Doby. Classy lads both of them.
I`am a NL-guy so I "root" for Robinson, but by the Sun and the Moon I love this guy. Simply a fine athlete.
