what happened to the pickup the strings went under?did it break off?

@linkstorm6 Oh, it's not an actual pickup, the pickup is that black bar you can kinda see. It's just a plastic pickup cover that shields the pickup itself. I removed it because it kinda got in the way of playing, especially slap bassing.

@seventhCrucifix One of my friends has a Rickenbacker 4003, and he too removed the PU guard. It looks terrible and is in the way, so I get why you removed it :-)
