Thanks for the review, I understand your frustration and believe there are certain electronic companies out there that should not be in the business they are in.
I was about to purchase this hard drive not ever having heard of this company , I decided to see what other thought of them. Boy am I glad I did. I now know not to buy from them. I've had bad luck before with other companies and don't want to experience that again. Sorry you had to go through all that.

@rampagetv Actually, WD has a drive I am interested in..My Book 3.0.
(I was under the impression the black case on the LaCie was metal and I learned this morning that it's actually PLASTIC? Boy, am I ever glad I didn't buy that thing!)

Great review! I was about to purchase the 2TB version of this drive until I watched your review and have now changed my mind. Even though I have owned a 250GB LaCie HDD for 3 years with no problems my confidence level in their products is down around zero, especially after reading about many peoples experiences.

@xusmcguy No Problem. It's probably worth mentioning (in case you haven't seen the unboxing I posted) I had a LaCie HDD for a long time as well (160GB) without any problems. Their recent crap is just that, crap. WD does a decent job at this time.

and mine started clicking recently.
how did you find out yours was a samsung without opening it?
im running snow leopard.
i checked in the about this mac under more info and i've located it but im not sure what im looking for to identify?

At the time of this video out of the room you're looking at. Right now I am building a dedicated studio. I am already in the new room and now collecting the materials for the live room. Control room almost done, just getting more equipment.
