What a finish -- everyone's looking on the right, Roche sees the world's narrowest gap on the left -- he goes, and it's history.

Roche's move was perfect. In other videos of this you can see how pissed Argentin is as he crosses the line in second place. We see Roche cry of joy, and in contrast at the very end of the clip we see Criquielion utterly exhausted. One of the best WC finishes ever.

In Roche's book he said he felt terrible in the lead up to the Worlds, then come race day he felt he could do a good ride for Kelly, when the break happened Kelly missed the boat, Roche kept looking back waiting for Kelly to get back on, when it became clear he wasn't going too Roche took the bull by the horns, went for the small gap and the rest is history.!!

thanks social rider for all of your posts, CLASS! you are correct indeed the triple crown is of course as you stated.To add further the 87 tour de france,giro 88 tour of Spain were won by Irishmen.Incredible as we are only 3.8 million people.thats the 3 biggest tours with irish winners all in a row,days never to be forgotten!Never maybe to see again.

In this case they mean with "triple crown"; Giro d'Italia, Tour de France and World Championship!
In 1987 all won by Stephen Roche!
His son Nicolas Roche (AG2R) is also a great rider.
