Hole In The Sky, from David Coverdale's first solo album, "White Snake". This album was recorded in 1976, just after the collapse of Deep Purple, so you can feel some of David's hurt feelings with the end of the band which gave him superstardom. This album was the first collaboration between David Coverdale and Micky Moody, who played all the guitars. This is the very embryo of what, two years later, would become Whitesnake.

The album was produced by (at the time) former Deep Purple bass player Roger Glover, and features the amazing Simon Phillips on drums (he was 18 years old at the time).

  • I don't think David's feelings were hurt after the collapse of Deep Purple.. he left them to pursue his own career by forming his own band, whitesnake.!

  • @1217angela yes, they were… It is well documented in the book "Listen, Learn, Read On". David said that the end of Deep Purple was like the shattering of his dreams. Before Purple he was an unknown, and when it all fell apart he feared that he would become an anonymous guy again. "I was frightened to leave the band. Purple was my life, Purple gave me my break but all the same I wanted out", David said.

  • @bessadale but he said in an interview that he resigned, he was too exhausted from touring and everything else... (?)

  • @1217angela He resigned, but when he did that, there was no band to quit anymore. David's feelings were very hurt because the last tour was very erratic, due to Tommy Bolin's drug problems, and he saw himself inside a downward spiral. He was very sad because he saw Deep Purple die in front of him. He was reportedly in tears during the very last Deep Purple concert in Liverpool, in March 1976.

  • @saintbraun Sarcasm translates poorly.

  • @Timothay2 I have yet to see someone with only a "minor" issue with heroin. Not that it isn't possible. I just have yet to see such a thing is all. XD

  • @bessadale Glenn Hughes also had a major issue with heroin on the last Purple tour which fed and was fed by Tommy's addiction, dirty circle.

  • One of the most beautiful rock-ballads ever written. Funny it is´nt more covered. No singer can reach my emotions like David. It gives other good rock singers but just one Coverdale.

  • His voice........ So unreal.. beautiful

  • @bessadale Tommy played fine in Liverpool. The real problem was Glenn, who was shot that night.David sounded horrible for much of the tour as well.He was pretty loaded himself in Auckland.Thai sticks! As it was,the decision to stop Purple came during the US tour. With Glenn in the shape he was in plus Tommy's solo gig to juggle, there wasn't any more reason to regroup again.Trying to replace Ritchie was pretty pointless, even to Tommy.

  • Musica muito linda e tem uma bela tradução!

  • SPECIAL

  • love to sing along to this the dc self titled lp was really very good but overlooked by most

  • He however proved more talented than what Purple gave him credit for
