  • i lived in lake isabella all my life i never herd of anyone going out on a boat with the trailer still atached

  • Its a very famous story all around the country and it really did happen at Isabella. The boat with the trailer still attached pulled up at French Gulch Marina. S

  • If you don't know how to properly moor or anchor a yacht and provide chafe protection...you don't deserve it!!!

  • I agree with you, but I wish you had taught this to the marina. The marina owner tried a new style of mooring and they all failed. He lost a lot of boats. The boat owners did the right thing but sometimes that is not enough. S

  • As a very new boat owner I can't help but ask. Did no one try to stop this from happening? I mean sailors are considered some of the most helpful people around, but you always see stories about boats that broke loose, or drug anchor and not one did anything. Why is that?

  • The marina owner didn't tell the boat owners about this until it was far too late for anyone to help. He even told some of them that the boats had never hit the beach while the photos showed that they had been. He told everyone that the boat owners were at fault even though photos showed that his gear failed. It was an ugly scene all around. Too bad too as the lake is fun to sail on. It pretty much killed all sailing except for little trailer sailors that can go home and be safe.

  • Man i was there the day that happened.Me and my dads truck got stuck in the mud right next to that boat and the sailer that was driving it.He was sitting there waiting for the marina to come pick it back up ,so windy!!!

  • Never mind, all the nice girls love a sailor!

  • The Kern River Valley would be a wonderful place to grow up. You were lucky. Sailing on the lake can be fun but diving would most likely not be - too murky. Yes, the old town is under the lake by Kernville and shows at really low water. Thanks for watching. S.

  • The Lake is withing the Forest Service and they dodged a bullet on this and a bunch of other boats that the marina lost. Thanks for watching. S.

  • I would sue the park service to recover damages... If a boat break loose on the marina they have a obligation to secure it and not just let it loose and unattended as it may cause a dangerous situation to other boaters.

  • It's funny, but I grew up 15 miles east of that Lake. Went through school in Isabella. I'm 61 now and have never been in Lake Isabella. I'm also a licensed professional diver, and have sailed all over the world. A lot of people don't know it, but some of the old town of Isabella is still underwater out in the middle part.
