From the Purina Grand Ole Opry TV Show: Lonzo & Oscar sing a slightly different version of "Why Should I Cry Over You," with good ol' Cousin Jody backing them up on his "biscuit board." Cousin Jody, the stage name of James Clell Summey, was Roy Acuff's Dobro player way back in the 1930's. At 3:45, sharp-eyed viewers will notice bassist Jack Drake of the Texas Troubadours in the far left background. Please check out the "straight" versions by Eddy Arnold and Marty Robbins posted on YouTube.

  • These guys knew how to put on a show without using special effects (thank you Garth Brooks for ruining Country Music!!!), ProTools, or being profane. What a concept! I'm sure Judge Hay and Uncle Dave Macon are spinning in their graves over what passes for most country music today!!!

Thnx for the posting, You are totally right...the Country Music of 2011 is a complete 360 from the Country Music of the 1950's!

  • real CLEAN comedy!!! a laugh a minute!!!!

  • @COREYGUTHRIE You are so right! He really had such a unique touch...he knew HOW to 'play with humor'---there are not very many who can do this!

  • @USRoute66Kingman Actually Garth Brooks was stone country compared to the PUNKS coming out today.

These Idiots anymore are not in the same AREA of Country Music.

It is NOTHING but POP Music anymore NOTHING BUT, Actually some of the Old rock and Rollers were 10 times more country than these new comer punks. They just totally RUINED Country Music totally RUINED IT.

Hope the Corporate Assholes are Happy!

  • Clell (Cousin Jody) Summey was probably the best lap steel player in the business.

  • lol! man i wish the opry would go back to this kinda stuff!

  • Cousin Jody was the steel player on the original "Wabash Cannonball" by Roy Acuff.

  • Love this!
