Our christmas light display for 2011: "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" by Mariah Carey.
The display is fully computer controlled and synchronized to music. We have over 100,000 lights, on almost 1200 individually controllable channels. The music is played on speakers for viewers, but also broadcast over low-power FM (on 91.7 FM) so people can tune their car radios to it.
This year, we've redone *everything* in the display from scratch -- all the old lights from previous years were damaged in the wet December of 2010, so we've redone it all with LEDs, and in full RGB color!
We hope you enjoy it. If you have a favourite christmas song, or any suggestions for us to sync in future years, leave them in the comments!
Ooh pretty new coloured lights :)
I missed them last year :( So did a few of my friends. When were they up and operating?
Feel free to put them up in November this year! :)

@MermaidSteve -- I normally try to have them up by 1st of Dec, but last year was so hectic and crazy (doing everything from scratch again) that I didn't have it running until the 12th or so. :-)

I'm not usually a fan of big light shows outside of Vegas, but this is perfect. Just the right amount of light and amazing colors. Do you make the LED lights yourself?

@xilityful -- Thanks! I didn't make the LED strings myself by hand; that would have taken too long. :-) I had them custom made for me by a manufacturer in China.

Excellent light show; I would've driven from the other side of Brisbane if i known that you'd updated your display. :)
Question - Are you using RGB pixels or seperate strings grouped together for RGB?
The guys @ the AusChristmasLighting forums would be most interested to hear about your display setup too!

@netbootdisk -- it's still running until the new year if you still want to see it. Every night from 7 until at least 9 or so. :-)
They're strings of RGB LEDs, but not individually pixel-controllable; wasn't worth the cost and overhead for the style of display I do.
I'm on AusChristmasLighting; just been too busy to get involved. :-)
