Class 3A softball regional at Mt. Saint Mary High School, Oct 2, 2009. After hearing the parents of the Lindsay Girls Softball team threaten the umpires, I thought it best to start videoing their behavior. Unfortunately I did not get their most egregious behavior because after I pointed my camera phone at them they calmed down. The man who comes after the phone and threatens me is the one who also wished the umpires dead. I don't have that on video though. Oh and Lindsay lost 8 to 1. I feel sorry for the girls and for the Lindsay School district if this is what the coaches have to put up with on a regular basis. It should be noted that the Coaches for Lindsay did not exhibit any bad behavior. The yelling picks up at the 1:00 mark. Sorry about the wind. I have heard that those involved have apologized to the Lindsay team, the Lindsay Administration, and to the coaches of Lindsay. I have also been informed that the OSSAA have received an apology for the bad behavior of these parents. I applaud those apologies. I will say that the reasons given for the bad behavior are still just excuses for poor sportsmanship. The umpires working the game were good umpires, they along with the Mt., St. Mary's student athletes and coaches deserve an apology as well. This behavior, regardless of the excuses, would not be accepted by a parent, and this video stands as a testament to why good sportsmanship is EVERYONE'S responsibility. This video also is a reminder that actions have consequences.
