Wonder no more why cars are not selling -- the current offerings are just plain BORING. Fossils like Lutz believe that if you change the appearance you can sell anything. But people want something more, something that can be plugged in -- and GM, captive of Standard Oil, doesn't want you to know that real EVs are possible with existing lead-acid batteries.

  • It would be nice to see other dash colors besides Black from every auto manufacturer.

  • Cool to see EV running after 10 years.

I am looking forward to a Hydrogen Clarity electric drive. Great looking car

  • Gas cars are boring? Tell me then why Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati dont use electric motors?

  • First, a solar-powered vehicle isn't viable anywhere other than where the sun is up 24/7, and where the mean temp is around 68-72 farenheit. Also, the vehicle itself would have to be bereft of everything save the motor in order to even move.

Second, the clue is for you...without money coming in, there isn't any to put cars out. If it costs $100K to make and you can only charge $20K to get someone to buy, you ain't making it for long.

  • You are saying that the second most expensive item in a houshold budget is somehow not profitable? Electric cars were being made 100 years ago. The cost savings to a consumer with installed solar is huge: $500 per month saved instead of going to the oil companies is enough.

Too bad the Nissan Leaf has a high monthly charge fr the battery pack. A foreign company is doing what Americans wring their hands over. Enough profit for whom? The millionaire executives? CLUE: Make cars instead of money.

  • I hate to tell ya this, but you'll be waiting for a while. The technology for non-ICE cars isn't profitable or commercially viable, and NONE of the folks who pick up the pieces of GM and Chrysler (or Ford, for that matter) are going to want to pick up the cost of initial standards development.

Unless you're willing to go through the rigamarole of licensing an experimental car to get some spit-and-bailing-wire EV on the road, go ahead...I guess...

  • people don't buy cars because people don't have the money for it at the moment.

It's nothing about "boring". Im in for EVs but people dont take a loan that easily now and they have to save money for a car that isnt that luxery and expensive..

For me it's the fun of technology that makes cars interesting for me.. but in real life I just want a car that goes form a to b.

  • AC Propulsion is interesting, but how much influence will their prototypes have on transforming our transportation energy system? They need to focus on developing a simpler EV concept that can readily be mass produced. Unfortunately, their eBox is based on LiON, which the auto companies are counting on giving customers a disappointing experience. Then, after the public has soured on EVs (but before the NiMH patents expire), the auto giants will roll out hydrogen and keep us tied to the pump.

  • Good to see that car running again. I'd love to have that system in a little car, I think I read it cost 25K for the Old system? Still fairly high, I could probably make a battery balance controller since I think that is the proprietary portion and where a lot of the cost came from.

Thanks for sharing your videos, I show them to people when The chance arises.

Oddly most people are turned off by screens with numbers and information in general, Where I find it all to be Fun insight.

  • The bankruptcy of the automakers is surely a sign of a big transformation in the auto industry. I am not buying another car until I can buy electric -- or plug in hybrid at least.
