If heaven exists one of the first things ill do is watch all the masterpieces that have been lost and i'm going to watch all of them in their completed form.

I don't know, it doesn't look so impressive to me. It's a matter of fact that movies age very badly in comparison to other art forms.

@mmpresti No, he is kissing it, and will let it go. Unfortunately, it is in the middle of the desert, and the bird can't survive in all that heat.... If you saw the rest of the movie, he loves birds....

@Metropofan There were plenty of "unhappy endings" prior to Greed. Broken Blossoms is an obvious one. Plus, the idea that the US goes for happy endings more than any other country is plainly false.

This is such a beautiful, prolific movie. I only wish Stroheim's full vision could be seen today. Those men at MGM ruined a masterpiece. I would gladly sit for nine hours to watch this movie as it was initially. Stroheim created something so powerful, so fantastic! I thank the men who recently restored it, but I still wish I could see this film as it was, untouched. I thank Stroheim for creating this magnificent piece of art.This film is now one of my favorites.
