@joopsnoop that's because koryu uchinadi is a karate-based system. karate is primarily a standing and striking art, with limited grappling. the groundwork drills in KU are pretty unique to that style, as most karate styles don't train groundwork at all. i think for a karate style, the groundwork for KU is actually very good. all of it may not work on a highly trained grappler, but it will work on the average a-hole who wants to fight you on the street.

I had to say thank for my friends sending this to me.. I love working on flow and I feel better to roll and work on stuff than just conplain on what you think does not work. Best to see for your self.
-
@joopsnoop you are right in alot of stuff but stuff like you said "Also ankle twist escape from back cannot work most of time, only working against someone who is very soft and compliant." Depends on how much you train and understand making things hurt. Since I know that stuff best to find out for your self.
-
@chrislgillies But doesn't work if single leg pressure is correct. Here the head is down and too low so won't work but real single leg pressure is different and prevents the role. Also ankle twist escape from back cannot work most of time, only working against someone who is very soft and compliant. Koryu uchinadi standup techniques are far superior to there ground techniques. Ground techniques look like they where never tested against real grappleing expert.

wwow this is so beautiful!!
what is this juijitsu like art called?
-
I love that counter to a single leg with omoplata! Simple, but genius.
-
That's some very fluid ground work there. I have no doubt that this sort of thing takes a lot of practice to get good at it.

nice drill

great!
Hi...I've drawn from various sources to develop this drill, mostly from my personal experience in Jujutsu and training with the old Japan-based UWFI.
