I don't think it is good evidence to suggest the "fold" is a dead concept. The obvious reason is because there was hardly any information above the fold and as the user scrolls down, more and more important or useful information is revealed. The revealing information only encourages more scrolling. If, on the other hand, important or useful information appeared above the fold, it is more difficult to say what users would do unless THAT experiment is performed.
