I'll admit it was a bit of a stupid thing to say but since then I've kept a much more open mind to music in general, I actually listen to a lot of mainstream music now.

This makes no sense. If it weren't for youtube I would have never heard of this band. Most people use youtube to listen to the music before buying it, which is exactly what I am doing. Its also a great place to read peoples posts about a band, which can often times direct you to other albums of the same band that you may also purchase.
