A real world indoor shooting of the 50 caliber GIMilsim paintballs and comparing the rate in drop to a 68 caliber paintball at 50, 75, and 100 feet.

Since we used old paint with a very thin fill, sadly this was not an accuracy test. Our next goal is to purchase fresh paint with a similar fill (Ultra Evil Paint) and compare the two of them together in regards to accuracy at 75 feet and 100 feet. See you then! Be sure to subscribe to keep up!

  • 1/4 inch measurements with 2 inch diameter splats eh?

  • Sure.. The center of the paintball is quite obvious actually when it hits.

  • Hey guys good videos on the 50 caliber!! All I would have to say is why did you not shoot more of each ball in you test? Shooting three balls is not really a difinitive test and is not giving the paintballs a fair shot.

  • It wasn't an accuracy test, so we didn't go for a large number of shots.

We're doing an accuracy test this weekend and will shoot 30 shots of each.

  • Please keep in mind folks... This was NOT an accuracy test.

We used old 68 paint, and a gun with a pretty bad regulator on it. :(

It was only to prove that our graphs, which showed that 50 dropped at a faster rate than 68, was indeed a fact.

  • similer question here: I am of the thought that the two rounds should be shot at different speeds in order to maintain equal number of breaks. For field use I would think that .68 should be fired at 280fps and .50 should be fired at 310fps. What speed variation do you think should be used to maintain the same drop at 75 feet?

  • Pretty basic physics, a projectile fired at the same speed with more mass will travel farther. 68 cal. has a little more paint/shell and is a little heavier. Great Vid! 5/5

  • Carter I would love to see you guys do this test again, but with some quality 68 caliber. The stuff you guys used looks like the "sub-par" junk we had up at Castle this fall, those things were anything but round! Dimpled to all heck and the seams were just terrible! I know 68 can do better!

  • WOW! What a high horse!

I quit. Logic is not reaching you up there and I am not going to have a battle of wits with an un-armed man.

  • Im glad you have accepted paint tolerance affects both calibers. Thats progress at least :)

But your still not getting it.

Alas I dont have the time nor the inclination to to teach you scientific methodology and paintball ballistics from first principles.

Its cool that you go to sniper school but trying to apply real gun ballistics to paintball is your first mistake.

Also Aggeltism? Some insult from pbnation no doubt.

I wasnt the one who marked your comments as spam. No need for insults.

  • It does affect both calibers, but if the tolernaces are different between the two during the test it is not a level playing field and therefore not an accurate test. You have to try to eliminate differences between the tests. Just ignoring them does not make them go away. How can you you have an "accuracy" test based on averages? If I did that at Sniper School, i never would have made my 1000 yard shot.

Intelligent coversation. Please eliminate the "agglet-isms". I can get that on 'Nation.

  • I certainly am doing...

The whole part about distance and accuracy... Priceless...

You have basicly admitted that paint to barrel match affects both calibers.

Read my post again. Thats exactly why its not a problem.

There are obviously tolerances, which is why you take an average.

But the variation in paintball diameter affects both guns. So for the purpose of comparison its the same.

  • If i have some .68 and it is really .683 and i am shooting it through a barrel that is .693 it will not be as accurate as being shot through a barrel that is properly sized at .683.
