Eight years after an Ohio utility began burning petroleum coke at its coal plant, many nearby residents say the fuel switch has turned the facility into a dirty, dusty, noisy nuisance. A plant proposed for Rogers City, Mich., would burn the same fuel; many of the problems its opponents warn against are identical to those plaguing the Ohio residents.
Petcoke has essentially no mercury in it. While the opinions of the plants' neighbors are important - they're not always well informed.

Coke typically has less than 1% ash...which is tremendously lower than coal. Which means a less volume of overall dust. However, a little ash dust goes a very long way. From the video, this plant needs to re-examine their dust suppression on the ash loadout system. You simply can't point to a natural resource or material and say that "IT" is the problem. The complaint should be toward the specific inept process or incompetent operation thereof, not the energy source or industry as a whole!
