The 'late' Maddy YOUNG & Tony BARNARD performing at Katoomba RSL Club Auditorium (Katoomba, Blue Mountains NSW, Australia) on Monday afternoon - October 1, 1990 as part of the 'Fringe Benefits' Charity Concert.
There is very little apart from this that I know of. This was actually shot at a benefit afternoon/evening at Katoomba RSL Auditorium in 1990. The only other footage that I know of is from an ABC doco that featured Mads, Ike Isaacs and a whole heap of other guitarists that was partly filmed in her mother's garage and released sometime after her and Ike's deaths.
Thought I had it around here somewhere but can't recall what it was called or if I still have the tape.
Glad that you liked her my friend, although I doubt that you will hear much more of or about her as she only ever released one album prior to her death - a 'live' offering that was recorded at Kiama down the South Coast from Sydney.
There was also a television program that went to air out here (Australia) on our national broadcaster sometime after her death in which she and a number of other players (Tony among them, from memory) played along with and chatted to British guitarist, Ike Isaacs.
Maddy Young was crazy good. Incredible how she commanded those strings without a pick, a thing of beauty that puts her in the great company of Wes and Emily. Nice tune, both players were spot on. Too sad for us that Maddy made an early exit, I hope to learn and see more about this forgotten jazz guitarist. Thanks for posting and reminding us all of her talent.
