In Tom Boyd's musical TOM SAWYER, Huckleberry Finn gives solace to Aunt Polly, grief stricken to learn that Tom and Becky are lost in McDougal's cave.

HUCK: It's full moon tonight, and that's a mighty good sign.
POLLY: And there's the first star. Tom always wished on it. I never took much stock in his silly superstitions, but he used to say his wishes always came true.
HUCK: That's a fact.
POLLY: (sings) FIRST STAR OF THE EVENING,
FIRST STAR OF THE NIGHT,
AM I BEING TOO AMBITIOUS
TO BELIEVE IN FULFILLED WISHES?
IS IT ONLY SUPERSTITIOUS?
AS IT MAY SEEM?

FIRST STAR OF THE EVENING,
FIRST GLIMMER OF LIGHT,
IS THERE ANY CHANCE IT'S TRUE,
YOU WILL GIVE AN ANSWER TO
ALL THE HOPES OF PEOPLE WHO
HAPPEN TO DREAM?

WELL, I'LL TELL YOU ANYWAY,
MY BOY WAS LOST TODAY,
MY WISH CAN ONLY BE
THAT HE'LL COME HOME TO ME.

MAY MY WORRIES SOON BE THROUGH,
WITH HIM HOME AND HEALTHY TOO
WISHIN' LIKE HE USED TO DO.
ON THE FIRST STAR OF THE NIGHT.
