Currently, I am in my first year of teaching 7th Grade Humanities in Harlem, New York. This video was made three days prior to the New York State ELA exam (which is why the walls are covered) One of the major skills assessed on the exam is the ability to compare and contrast. This lesson uses two poems to see how people, students, authors and everyone, can compare their lives to something. Feel free to leave any form of feedback - all is appreciated.

  • I teach 8th grade English in California. I just wanted to drop you a note saying I really like how you began this lesson. Any way we can see the rest of it?
