I started the Couch to 5K program on January 19, 2009. Here's my update on how Week 1 went. I'll be running my 5k road race on April 4, 2009.

  • Outside you pace yourself to the beat of the music. The beats per minute are higher each week. Podrunner also has free podcasts. I think I like Ullery's better. I use both. I also signed up for 2 5K's. How exciting that all these post-obese people are become RUNNERS!! I love it! The WLS forum has a board for C25K for us to all talk. I also record my mile time once a month to see how much I improve. My goal is a 10 minute mile. So proud of you for running! Good luck~ cheri

  • Wow, Cheri, thanks for the info...I had no idea about the beat of the music, that's pretty cool! When are your races? I'm with you, I'd love to be doing a 10-minute mile by April when I run my race. Thanks for all your help with the running! :)

  • I love robert's pods. His voice is so soothing. ;) "it is all about the t-shirt" is hilarious. Keep up the good work.

  • I'm with you...I love Robert! How's your running going?

  • I'm starting this program tomorrow! Any advice / tips on this program?

  • 2 years ago I too started Robery Ullery's c25k. Since then I have lost 25 pounds, have run 13.1 miles on the treadmill in 1:50, and am plannng my first half marathon in Nov '10.

No matter how far you go just be proud of all you have done and keep on going.

  • i just started couch to 5k and it is so hard, but it'll be worth it :)

  • Thanks for making this, it helps because I am starting my Couch-to-5K program tomorrow, so it gives me an idea of what to expect. Its also very motivational! Noah

  • Too monitor myself I use the Podrunners podcast which is excellent, but I also run the mapmyrun application for iphone (Free version). The app tells me the distance I've run, the average pace, calories burned and all that stuff. No need for a treadmill. If I had a treadmill I would do it on rainy days but something about exercising in the outdoors and actually moving around feels powerful. I live in Florida though so it is quite easy with the weather here in the winter.

  • I love your hair and make up! =]

  • Wow Merideth you're doing so great! I can't wait til I can run :) Good Luck on the 5k!! viki

  • great job !! : ) shannon

  • You are doing amazing Meredith!!! Good job and lots of good goals ahead of you! You go girl!!!

  • Awesome video, girl. By the way, you look beautiful, as usual.

  • Go, Meredith, go!
