  • where does the salt go? in the video it says it stays on the mesh, so the salt will build up and restrict air flow.

  • Actually, one can use more seawater to flush the excessive salt away. It is an easy way to regulate the build-up of salt. I have some pictures of this type of installation which Charlie Paton gave me which shows a buildup in a Seawater Greenhouse application, which was subsequently flushed away with more seawater.

  • Dear trudy

Yes, it is true that you will need energy to pump the water. However this is less energy than what would be used if you desalinated using RO or other conventional methods. With regards to the salt, this does not need to happen if constructed correctly. The Seawater Greenhouse is built on the same technology and does not suffer from salt coating problems. The salt only covers the evaporators and they are covered by seawater anyway.

  • Dear marxel02,

Cold seawater is available at any location where you have water below about 100 meters, in the Indian ocean it is not unusual with 10-15C water at 150-200 meters depth. It is primarily about finding a location reasonably close to deeper water.

  • I need thIS video for a project of my school, how can i get it in HD?

    do you have it?

    thank you

  • water dosnt run out...

  • "what about when sea water runs out in millions of years what will happen then? "

It will be replenished by the fresh water we've used and flushed as sewage.

  • It can't run out, matter is constant since the beginning of times, the quantity of water hasn't decreased, the quality of it has, that's why we'll be struggling for water
