Now talk about fun. Besides the cross winds and dirty track of course. West Coast's best tuners, drivers and enthusiasts came out to play at the Redline Time Attack season opener at Buttonwillow. "ROUND 1"!!! Competition was stiff with more cars in each class than any previous year.

The line up included cars such as the new GTR R35, Z06, STi, Evo X, FD Rx7, NSX, Mustang, Civic and a lot of other sweet rides.

FAS would like to thank our sponsors that helped us take home 3rd Place Modified AWD award with a time of 2:00:001. FAS sponsors include Enkei wheels, Performance Friction Brakes (PFC), Tomei, H3R Performance, Odyssey, and Sticky Icons.

Also, many thanks to Dr. Russ Warr for piloting our R34 GTR and bringing it back in one piece. Well, almost...a power steering belt was nearly completely cut to shreds. Not much luck finding a matching or similar belt while I was driving around the paddock area asking everyone. Thanks to Garmin and the ability to pull up all of the Auto Zones in Area 51. After getting on the phone and calling 3 different stores, the last one had the belt we needed. The only issue was that the store was located 30 miles out and it was already 11am. Driving 100mph in a Dodge dually was fun. I got the belt back in time for the next outing.

A major improvement on our car's performance came from extensive suspension tuning done by the very surgical and passionate Jon from JIC USA/Ziel Motorsport of Downey, CA. They can be reached at (562) 803-6122.

Aki Fuchigami, our builder/tuner, formerly of Garage Bomber of Japan, provided track side support ensuring the car was healthy throughout the day.

Let me tell you about some new goodies we received this year. Enkei RPF1 wheels in SBC not only gave off this slick black chrome effect and always looked clean, but was lightweight and offered minimal flex. We tried other pads before and nothing stops our pig of a car like PFC pads. No brake fade and it actually got better as temps climbed. Luckily, we didn't have to use the H3R Peformance fire extinguisher. It looks lovely in chrome though. We went from a Red Top Optima battery to an Odyssey PC680 lightweight battery. Definitely, a noticeable weight savings. Pair that with the Odyssey Ultimizer during the car's extended down time and the car starts right up without a hiccup. If you want precision and fast turn-around times on vinyl stickers there is no other than Sticky Icons. Hit Krist up at (562) 233-3295.

Redline is back at it for Round 2 at Willow Springs International Motorsports Park in Rosamond, Calif., a new stop on the calendar, on May 30-31. More info at www.redlinetimeattack.com.
