Caravan, written by Juan Tizol, performed by Haydn Huckle. Juan Tizol (31 December 1900 - 23 April 1984) was a Puerto Rican trombonist and composer. He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and moved to the mainland United States in 1920. He worked with Duke Ellington from 1929 to 1944 and it was during this period that he composed Caravan and "Perdido". After that he worked with the Harry James orchestra in California which allowed him to see his wife more often. In 1957 he was a guest on The Nat King Cole Show. He died in Inglewood, California on April 23, 1984.
Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Oscar Peterson are three of the greatest jazz musicians ever. I listen to the jazz greats all the time, the way to learn how to play piano is to take piano lessons, learn the basic piano chords, play piano scores, practice piano, then practice piano some more!

  • i can't help but think of snoopy and woodstock wandering through the big city seeing the signs that say "no dogs allowed" "no birds allowed" ...damn you pop culture!

  • Fantastic !! I love all your videos. They are great piano lessons for me. I would so much like to play as you.

    I would appreciate so much.

  • Impressivo, this really helps me in my quest to learn this song myself. So thanks for that. =]

  • I find this terrific

    I try to swing too

    See my YouTube.

Hé why dont buy a cheap arrangerr for

bass & drums as I have (only $300)

    That would enhance the swing

  • In my view your hands still look a lot tied to each other, I mean not independent. The voicings, anyway, are okay, and the overall sounds okay.

  • Practice all you want. These chords, like Rites of Spring, are hard to figure out without notes. Very complex, sophisticated. Tizol was some kind of genius. Haydn, too, a rough genious: No gossamer nonsense or filigree. Bravo

  • Like rob said, the number of people who have viewed this is rediculously low. This is a really high end stuff. Thanks for the video!

  • wow why haven't more people viewed this?? that's some great work. congratulations

  • Dude, You are a class act!
