Effective Monday, October 19, 2009, both Stanford and Packard Childrens Hospitals will no longer allow visitors or family members under the age of 16 years to visit in the hospitals. This new policy is due to the severity of the H1N1 flu and its potential to spread to children and expectant mothers. In this video, Yvonne Maldonado, MD, chief of pediatric infectious disease and a professor at the Stanford School of Medicine, discusses the reasons for this policy.
