IBC 2011 Virtual balloon bursting

As is traditional for new technology demonstrations, a balloon gets burst..

In this case the demonstration showed a 3D image that could be touched using a stylus, providing real feeling. When a balloon bursts a small puff of perfume is released to increase the sensation of reality. The smelly bit wasn't particularly convincing, but the feeling of prodding the balloons was extraordinarily realistic.

I can see very exciting applications for this sort of thing, both in gaming and in business.
