finally got the jump at 1:55 (after good use of the 99lives cheat). the jump at 1:55 requires that you press the X button right as you get to the top of the hill that you are running up. don't wait until you're on the flat part or at the ledge, press X as soon as you top that hill. that was what kept me from getting high enough to land the jump. i waited till i was at the ledge to jump. hope that helps some folks.
