Reverend Pearly Brown was a blind street singer and preacher, like Reverend Gary Davis, with a simple but effective guitar style and a very soulful voice. His repertoire, while purely religious was very large; Spirituals, Holy Blues, gospel,traditionnal slave songs, etc...
oh and if anyone gives a damn about any opinion i have...Cryin' Sam Collins (1928 ish) best bluesman of all time and best poster on youtube is ragtime dorien henry so if you ever see anything posted by him then you know it's worth listening to....cheers all:) !!!

about eight years ago I saw Skip play on this PBS doc ....pretty much the first blues that I ever related to and at the time I basically broke my blues cherry.... eventually I bought a DVD that was the live at Newport you know the one with skip, wolf, brown, White, House.....well that was about the changing point in my life that I look back on and well now I can play a lot by Mance and Charlie but man I really wish I had the honour of listening to this for the first time again.....cheers :) !
