A review of the release candidate of Linux Mint 10 KDE featuring the KDE 4.6 desktop environment. Mint 10 KDE does to the most recent version of KDE, what the main edition does to GNOME and that is provide a user friendly experience with best of the breed applications, and this release succeeds in doing that. KDE 4.6 is a major milestone in itself, bringing several enhancements that increase performance dramatically. Definitely the best performing KDE release so far...but Pardus 2011 has the slight edge on Mint 10 with its polish and configuration tools. Absolutely a distro to try if you've had issues with past KDE versions - KDE 4.6 is a vast improvement.

  • I have windows 7 do you reccomend insttall Linux Mint 10?

  • @continente1998 Sure, Linux Mint 11 KDE will be coming out sooner or later, but Mint 10 KDE is nice as well.

  • @InfinitelyGalactic But where can I download this software? And thanks for the tip

  • @continente1998 Yep, just got to linuxmint (dot) com and then click on the KDE option on the homepage.

  • Pardus or Mint?

  • @Nexxonja Tough call. I'd say Pardus, only because it's more polished and more updated software. Mint 11 KDE could change things though. ;-)

  • @ufowam Like I said.... A pain.....

  • @bustedbit you can have the desktop like windows 7 has (if that's what you meant). You only need to create the appropriate activity for it.
