My "Spiritual" Experience

Atheists can have "spritual" experiences too. Here is an example.

Oh but the thing is we have a perfectly natural, plausible, accepted and non-god explaination for it.

I'm with you Ooposhoo. You can't really imagine the ocean if you've spent your entire life in the forest. I too unexpectedly had a profound spiritual experience at the age of 28, was atheist or agnostic, and was never the same again. There is no way anyone who had such an experience could not have a paradign shift in thinking--in fact the experience IS the paradigm shift. I don't know what experiences religious people have, because I'm not religious.

@o0POSH0o You are 100% correct, a valid spiritual experience for an atheist would be a spiritual awakening and they would not BE atheist any longer. They would experience a paradigm shift in their thinking, defiance would disappear. They would be a new creature.

I had a spiritual experience over 10 yrs ago, I was atheist.

But an atheist can certainly be spiritual in their nature. They just have difficulty letting go of self.

That story has nothing to do with spiritual experience..... that is definitely emotions and chemical highs in the brain. Spiritual experiences are profound changes in the understanding of ourselves and others and all things. If you are the same person after the experience than it was a high, if you are a totally different person as a result of information infused into your every senew..... then you've had an spiritual experience.

@roont Lets say that there is someone who loves you, how do you know she/he loves you if she/he doesnt talk to you? you can feel, i guess if you have your heart open you would, but when you begin to talk, connect in conversation, in everyday life... this is how i know. This is how i know something i cant see exists. its all about love. many ways, to explain but... without changing your perspective you cannot see. are you still looking the wrong way? if you change your glance and you might...see.

@civinz well, to be honest, its not up to belief. It's the truth. We are a part of all other life on this planet. we're related to all of it. from chimps to that oak tree in your backyard. they are all our cousins. This is not a belief. Its a fact. If someone insisted to you that you were not your grandfathers grandson, would that not offend you?

Stop being so negative please, should really get taught, learn to learn. everyone should learn from one another, no1 is the same and no1 can feel or sense or have the same experiences as someone else. you say no when you dont know, thats funny. you should just say u dont know and learn, then you can be happy. I'm not trying to conflict with you, please i just want you to gain knowledge and be happy, for the Love Peace of Human kind? Knowledge is power, Truth is key? wars start with ignorance.^^

@roont Sure, what is spirit you ask? 500characters is not many to describe. Look at body. Body of human is copy and shadow of what is in the spiritual world. Meaning Spiritual body, looks like physical body, although... our physical bodies are not as amazing. so, spirit has gender, arms and legs, whole thing looks similar but just copy and shadow/reflection. In reality spirit is more real than our bodies. physical bodies last 100yrs or so, spiritual bodies are ment to last for eternity... :)
