Looking for critique and tips of my technique. My 50y time is about 1:10 avg. And my best 500y time is 12:15. I've been at this for a year, and haven't gotten much better.
Your turn is just as important as the actual stroke. I can't see what you're doing, but I doubt it's efficient. Use a breaststroke turn and go straight into the stroke as soon as you feel yourself losing momentum. You should be aiming to glide at least a yard past the flags each turn. I learned this stroke this summer and I absolutely love it! You can literally swim miles without fatiguing. I would suggest you get a professional to help you if you're looking into BUDS.
When you kicked off the wall, you had a decent glide until you started fluttering, then you just completely stalled out. Don't bother with a breaststroke kick and that pull. Do a couple dolphin kicks after the initial push and go straight into your stroke. As for your stroke. . . When you lift your head out of the water your hips drop and you lose your streamline. It looks like your flutter kicking. It should be a sharp scissor kick that gives you most of the momentum in this stroke

It's a really easy to mess this one up and you've got over a year of bad habits to break. Good Luck!
