You know, that's why I like this show so much. A lot of conservative talking heads tend to repeat themselves continuously to the point of sounding tired and outlived. Afterburner takes the modern questions and finds out what solutions conservatism has to offer. We respect our past and learn from it, but lets not make a home out of it leaving the present and future in the hands of the socialists.

A few critiques. First it doesn't matter what kind of society with what kind of revolution one is living it. Capitalism not only allows those revolution to happens, but gives people the freedom to adjust and make the most of the changes with out forcing anything on anyone. That is why the UK thrived on capitalism before the industrial revolution and places like Hong Kong and Singapore thrive on capitalism during the information age.

I do hope he is right about practicality being the thing that finally forces the government back to where it is supposed to be but history teaches us that those in power seldom give it up willingly. If there is anything we know of our government, we know it is grossly impractical...

I gotta say, for the first time, I actually disagree. The truths of the "agrarian US" of small government, personal freedom and private responsibility are timeless and immortal. In addition, Obama's policies wouldn't have worked 100 years ago either because those policies are based in lies and the denial of the realities of our world.

(Part 3) Now, as for the evidence, it has to do with archeology and radioactive-dating (which is not referring to my love life with my mutated glow-in-the-dark girlfriend). Tools associated with farming are never dated to be older than about 16,000 years old, where as tools for hunting and gathering are dated to be as old as humanity itself (about 100,000 years old).

(Part 2) Trading with farmers was more efficient than tracking down food, so people just decided to live near farms. This essentially gave birth to civilizations as we know them.

Let me give you a lesson in anthropology: 'Hunter-Gatherers' were the people who lived in caves. The reason why they lived in caves was because they were very nomadic. They would gather or hunt an area for a little while, leave, and come back later. Eventually, some people realized that they can actually just grow the food for themselves. In fact, they can grow so much food that they can profit from trading it with their brethren. (To be continued)

Well reasoned except he forgot to add into the equation the power and greed factors and their impact on governments.

As you say, farming & cities both have ancient beginnings. In the book of Genesis, Cain farmed crops, & Abel, sheep; & the O.T. shows us several cities. Then again, progress isn't usually linear. Regressions have happened throughout history. Eg., ancient Crete's flush toilets predate lots of primitive cultures without such civilized facilities, & outhouses aren't that far back in America's past.
