Hearing parents of Deaf children are presented with a wide and bewildering array of choices upon identification of their child as Deaf. However, how these choices are often presented leaves parents with no true "choice" of their own. In this vlog, I discuss how this happens.

Hey...that is true! I like the way you present this is to show how the medical people like audiologists use this strategy to lurk those poor parents into many FALSE hopes and choices.

aslnikki, for some reason I was unable to reply directly to you and post. This is my third attempt. I would caption my youtube vlog if I knew how. That is why I embedded it in my website with an English transcription. If someone knew how to caption it and is willing to do so I'm game.

wow! well done! love how you use analogies in many of your vlogs. This is one really good vlog. If people still don't get what AB 2072 is all about so far from your vlog, I'll be really puzzled!

Excellent metaphor! The medical professionals are playing magic tricks for their financial & fame gains at our expense!

I love this one... that is what happened in almost every place where Bill AB2072 model law are enforced.

I'm all for parental choice, but like you, I feel the choosing process has come down to smoke and mirrors. Rather than a brochure, I wish that parents could get a DVD with a full presentation from each option. I believe if parents can really see the full picture, by having all the facts, and if they can have their biases challenged, ASL will be strongly considered when choosing. Parents need to be convinced...and they won't be convinced if they can't envision their child being better off.

Very true and very sneaky on how they said they are giving everyone options but in reality, they are tricking people into picking what they want the parents to pick...anything to do with speech and hearing to which they are more familiar and comfortable with...instead of what's best for the CHILD and his/her future. Good vlog!

smoke and mirrors
if they really cared about parental rights theyd be doing a MAJOR shout out about Emma's case. Where are her father's rights? Where are her rights?
Why isnt ASL and English the first choice and then oral only the back up plan for those who "fail" with the bi-bi approach? The answer is obvious
now if u could just make audism and linguicism disappear dr. don
