Sraith a thugann léargas ar chultúr ceoil ó oileáin éagsúla fad cósta na hÉireann. Mar aon leis an gceol feicfimid radharcanna iontacha ó thírdhreach na n-oileán féin.

''An úsáid a bhainfí as an gceol ná bheith ag rince leis. Ní raibh aon mhaitheas an ceol a chur amú gan bheith ag damhsa leis.'' Micheál Ó hAlmhain ag cur síos ar cheol Arainn. I measc na rannpháirtithe eile tá Clann Uí Mhaoilchiaráin, Deirdre Ní Chonghaile, Lasarfhíona Ní Chonghaile, Micheál Ó hAlmhain agus Treasa Ní Mhiolláin.
Is iad na hoileáin atá i gceist: na hOileáin Árainn uilig.Tugann gach clár léargas ar an stair a bhaineann le traidisiún ceoil agus siamsaíochta an oileáin sin agus déanann saineolaithe cur síos ar scéal an cheoil i ngach oileán faoi leith. Baintear an-úsáid as ábhar cartlainne idir fís agus fuaime mar aon le sean ghrianghraif. Is í Máirín Seoighe, Scannáin Dobharchú, a léirigh an tsraith Ceol na nOileán.

This series of programmes explores the rich musical culture of Ireland's islands. Each programme gives an insight into the musical tradition of the featured island(s), and images of the islands' unique environment enhance the sentiment of the music and songs, and provide an effective and dramatic context. The series is produced and directed by Máirín Seoighe (Scannáin Dobharchú) and makes use of archive material and interviews with island natives

Original programme broadcast by Irish language (Gaelic) public television TG4, Teilifís na Gaeilge
