  • with the exception of a very few variations, this interpretation is quite flowing.

  • if I may ask... which ones are not "flowing"? ;)

  • I believe the variation with the march needs to be quick and light to make it more flowing.

    But it's still intellectual.

  • Which one? Etude 1? Etude 4?

  • Quite epic! Such emphisis of nuiance, perfect to every touch. I only wish quality was better. Richter is amazing...

  • O piesa magnifica. Chiar daca nu-ti place muzica clasica, nu poti sa nu observi tehnica formidabila a lui Richter. Te obliga sa-ti aduci aminte de persoanele pe care le iubesti si pe care nu le poti vedea.

  • I love 2:48

  • a wonderfully spirited sound

  • Damn it, this took more than 8 minutes, but for some reason I really didn't want to stop it though it was time to go ..

  • @mathpianist93 It is you, I believe, who is still intellectual. As Mark Twain put it, the difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter—it’s the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.. In your pompous idiocy you don't understand that what Richter does with this particular piece is the latter, and what you scholarly mumblings suggest is the former at best.

  • This interpretation is the best one as of yet. And will be. Nothing to say.

  • An excellent performance with spontaneity and sense of the whole.

  • It is well known that Richter showed his best in live performances. This recording is live, and its power and musical thought is incomparable to all other studio recordings he has done of this piece in 1970's. There is a sense of risk taking here that makes music alive, while in studio recordings music was a bit too pleasant and less carefree.

  • he plays it like bach, which is really different from the usual schumann of fantasiestuckes. is it supposed to be?

    thanks!
