► How To Enable The Original Start Menu In Windows 8 / Disable Metro UI

The Windows 8 Dev Build is great, but the Metro UI has more than a few quirks. If you want to run IE 10, and still have a Start Menu, (or be able to find your programs after you install them) then you need to make this small change to the registry.

WIN+R and then type REGEDIT and press enter.
browse to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Win­dows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
select RPEnabled and change the value from 1 to Zero

You can still toggle between the two by using the windows key.

Microsoft still hasn't learned the following:

The world uses pc's and laptops 1000 to 1 vs tablets

The world uses Microsoft Windows XP-7 in 10,000 to 1 vs Mac OS in business.

The rest of the world doesn't listen to idiotic suggestions from Marketing.

I Will not buy software made for a product that I do not own. So save this for tablets and make a fast clean simple interface for normal businesses and people who don't want your crap gui.

You can't re-enable the original start menu in W8 as it doesn't exist anymore, the code has been removed by Microsoft in later versions.

This video is WAY out of date. It should be removed.

You have to download it off Ninite.com to get it. It's called clasic start.

say it thought buuuuut windows 8 runs games very well and not shitty fb games or 2d one i mean AAA titles very well sure it has a tablet like interface but with a few third party addons its a full desktop pc it has its faults and yeah more people use pcs i see where your getting at. and my new pc build is going to run windows 8 not 7..

This was only for the Dev Build. If you're looking for a start button alternative, try a program like classic shell (free) or start8 ($5)

This was only in early dev - preview builds. You can not do this anymore. This video is irrelevant now.
