@XcPromise A good target for an actual thai kick, unlike the little slap you saw at first, where you dig the shinbone into the thigh just above the knee. The point is, when you get hit, the natural reaction is to dig your feet down, and not tap the front foot. Tapping the front makes it easier to raise at the last second and block, but digging your own foot down gives yourself more power, but at the same time, you take more damage. Anyway these instructionals are not very good, I suggest others.
@ronin599 They're just nifty little names that this man made up, they don't apply to muay thai as a whole. The first kick was more of a slap, the contact was made with more of the foot, in order to get the guy to shift his weight slightly to the right. Then, a sloppy hook was thrown, to move the guy's weight slightly to the left. Once his balance was more leaning towards the left, he's got more balance on his lead left foot, as in, the foot is dead set to the ground, which makes it a good target
i dont mean to sound ignorant nor am i taking the piss, but what is the differance between a cut kick and a chopping kick? is it speed? power? the angle? all 3?
