FCP X isn't a replacement for 7... yet. Once they build in the missing functionality it will be lightyears ahead of its predecessor. The real issue is that it was released as a Final Cut Pro 7 replacement which it isn't, it more closely resembles an expanded or more fully featured iMovie.

No, actually YOU have misinterpreted what Walter said. That is not a surprise since you sound like a Apple fan boy. Its clear he cant use FCP XXXX due to its limitations. Hes hopeful but not very enthusiastic about its future.

Final Cut X has a lot of cool things going for it, the interface is amazing. Final Cut X does have one serious flaw though, it's not a nonlinear digital video editor. It's a toy for 'amateur hour'
YOU CAN'T COPY AND PASTE KEYFRAMES, LET ME REPEAT THAT. YOU. CAN'T. COPY. AND. PASTE. KEY FRAMES. which is like not being able to say "I" in regular daily conversation. Where's the fucking upgrade you fucking twots.!?

@jnberger be thankful he posted it, wise-ass. Or maybe you should have gone & done it with your 5 cameras and made a big production of it. Personally, I think what he was saying was what was important, not the camera angle.

So far, every media college/school that I know of, are not planning on upgrading their FCP to X until all the issues are fixed by Apple.

After buying it, he looked at it and said he can't use it.
After seeing it on June 21st, I called it a pile of shit.
Why didn't the pros think that when they saw it? Well...I guess I had been using iMovie for a couple of months and realised how shit that is when I moved to FCE.

@jnberger Indeed. But when you're stuck with one camera in the audience you can either get close to get the best sound and least audience interference, or you move back and get those problems.
MacVideo.tv should be posting a better video, and I assume they got audio from the sound board too....

Thanks for sharing this. Do you have the complete (uncut) talk of Walter Murch? I'm very curious about the rest he had to say, not just the thing about FCPX.
