it doesnt NEED more power they designed it how they wanted it, Lotus are the gods of handling not speed they even helped design the nissan GTR's chassis

all around great car, but according to the specs, it shouldn't cost more than 25k. however, this is a true example of how horsepower can mean absolutely nothing

I would totally see if I could get the vertical Koenigsegg doors on it because it kind of looks like a chubby welfare model of a Koenigsegg :P

Tesla is a lotus chassis and body.

Lotus did make their own engines for the Esprit, its only with the Elise that they started with using Toyota engines.

They were pretty great engines too, very powerful for their weight and size. But it became too expensive to develop a new one from scratch. If they had, the cost of the Elise would probably be double what it is now... so they use highly tuned Toyota motor.

And from there it worked out so well that they just kept doing it. It lets them build great cars and keep their price down.

If they succeed in making a car like this or the exige, i think they can make their own engine.
