Wowee Posadas(p), Mar Dizon(d), Mike Guevarra(s) and Rommel dela Cruz(b). 19 EAST. Mar's drum solos are always creative and soulful, never overwrought at the expense of taste. Simple and competent mastery. Confirmation (C. Parker)

  • hahaha the drummer is one of the best and honord musician in the philippines.....

  • Ah, yes. Then maybe dynamics is the culprit. Some drummers will play just as busy when others solo, but more subliminal. That's true jazz trio playing. This band's sound is in fact dominated by the percussion, the drummer also being the musical director. Listen to Brad Melhdau trio, they play "outside" of each other. The drummer won't even keep time, allowing the piano and bass a full excursion.

  • the Guy how is soloing should get the protagonism, and the guys that are comping should play to reinforce his/her playing. if you hear this, your attention goes to the drummer all the time, the drummer is doing what he likes, without conexion with anyone.you are right about live and record sesion, but the roll of a drummer always will be the same: keep the tempo and create a confortable situation for the band and for the guy soloing.listen to matt wilson, bill stewart, jeff ballard or ben riley

  • I disagree. If this was a recording session for a wider media, then you might be right. He can do that too. But this is a live performance. Purists pay good money to see musicians push their art to the limit. Otherwise, they may as well stay home and listen to a CD.

  • This is exactly what a drummer shouldn't do. he is taking all the protagonism.

that's a great example of overplaying.

drummers should know which their roll is

  • mizmo!talaga si mar.
