Chris takes some time to go into the details of an external hard drive. Lots of great information in this new video. Learn about fasteners, what hard drive heads have in common with human DNA, and the safe way to handle magnets!

  • i used a magnet, a small neyodimuim magnet stack, to cause a hard drive error. this would "uy time" for an essay or something but i find it strange that it did cause an error. at first i thought i move the armature with the magnet but there was no SQWEEEEEEE but on the shitty school mac books it just had a blinking picture of a ?file

    any insight

  • I'm a geek! :D

  • i have a question, i have and external harddrive and an internal blu ray drive can i use the cords from my external harddrive to make my internal blu ray dive external?

  • I have watched the whole video with grater interest then an average movie. As a sugestion i have to tell you guys if you could let the informational blue band at the bottom of the screen to last a little longer (about 5 seconds longer) because not all of your viewers are native english speakers like me for instance. Thank you

  • At 28:18, it seems like a RFID tag. In older video game and dvd packages there would always be one for anti-theft, but now there is a smaller, thinner, type.

  • @Bluetorchproductions it's called razzle dazzle

  • The neat thing about hard drive magnets is that they aren't really strong at all to the sides, but are WICKED strong front and back

  • yay i'm a geek

  • I noticed you talking about your late '70s Honda. I have a 1977 XL 175cc Honda. You're right about using that #3 Phillips on it.

  • I need a SATA/USB controller board just like the one you have. I have a 20GB SATA drive and I want to see what's on it and use it on my PC as additional storage even though its only 20GB. I have a 1TB western digital My Book external drive as well.
