@cosmoduffgordon actually, Parliament shut off the clock face lights and silenced the chimes so the nazis wouldnt see it. Big Bens 2 faces were damaged and one side was a little damaged but Big Ben kept ticking.

They cut off all lights and stopped the bells chiming in order to keep it out of sight and sound of the luftwaffe
