I was thingking about the difference between Peter Sellers and Steve Martin is that Number one Knowone can replace Sellers. He never noticed the stupid thing he'd just done. Everyone else did. and he on finding out too late would try to cover the mistake up with a reason for doing it on purpose. Martin sees the error straight away and the joke does'nt work. The audiance likes to think they know something he does'nt. that's what made Sellers stuff the best. And he played it straight.
