How-to clean and care for your bird bath. Presented by Gardening How-To editor Amy Sitze. National Home Gardening Club (NHGC), http://www.gardeningclub.com
I disagree , sometimes a bath can get too gritty and vinegar wont get it done. I use a ratio of 1-10 bleach to water and it is safe just rinse well afterwards. This is what I do for my hummingbird feeders if they develope mold and this method was given to me by an official bird bander so I see no problem with doing it with a birdbath. You can try vinegar first if it works for you ok. But most times it wont.
This video is really good up until the part where she says to use a mixture of BLEACH and water to clean the bird bath. NEVER, NEVER do this! Bleach is a poisonous chemical and VOC (volatile organic compound) and can cause serious harm to birds and other wildlife (not to mention pets, children and you). A solution of 1 cup water to 2 tablespoons vinegar is safe and totally effective. No chemicals, please!
I have two birdbaths, let the other one dry out and the mold just flakes up and you can spray it off, then switch it!

Bird baths are great for pollinators too! I also have a 20 gallon goldfish pond, that has worked out very well in my yard for many years.
